Arnold, Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, lever fusee, 52mm, 18K gold OF original consular case bearing London hallmarks for 1852, "J W S" in oval cameo for casemaker James Walter Stock, fixed gold cuvette engraved "W.H. Chipman, Weymouth 1853 Mass., To My Grandson W.C. Mason Dec. 25. 1890," white enamel SS dial, KWKS, fully capped lever escapement, 19J, gilt mvt, s#7732 with matching serial number within case and to dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 75.3 dwt (117.1 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine scratches and surface spots; dial with small edge flake at 8; fine hands; case shows ample wear, fine to micro-fine scratches, no dents or dings, engine turning detail virtually fully lost with only a small light trace remaining evident around center rear; gold-filled replacement bow pivots semi-freely; good glass crystal.
